A split shipment occurs when a shipment needs to be divided to include multiple sets of shipping documents or ship-to locations. This process can be necessary for various reasons, such as optimizing storage, fulfilling orders to different Amazon fulfillment centers, or meeting specific business requirements. At Palletfly, we understand the complexities involved in managing split shipments and provide guidance to help you navigate this process efficiently.
We always recommend creating a mock shipment before checking out on our website to avoid potential issues with split shipments.
If you need to split your shipment after reaching the shipment stage, please respond to the existing email thread with the following information. Ensure your email is in text format, not as an image:
- Number of Locations:
- Full Address:
- Units in Shipment:
- Cases in Shipment: (Repeat these three details as needed for each location)
Please note that we cannot guarantee your shipment will be eligible for splitting at the shipment stage. Shipments are typically already packed by this point. If the shipment is not packed, it may still be following warehouse guidelines which do not allow for split shipments. If we are unable to split your shipment, consider the following options:
- Use FBA Inventory Replenishment Software: This software may be able to route your order to one location. Check our partners' offers in the resource page under FBA inventory replenishment. Note that 2D Workflow offers a 30-day free trial.
- Ship to Your Warehouse: You can receive the goods at your warehouse and then split the shipment as needed.
- Enable Amazon's FBA Inventory Placement Service: Temporarily turn on FBA inventory placement in Amazon Seller Central (a seller account is required). Follow these steps:
- Go to Settings and select Fulfillment by Amazon.
- Under Inbound Settings, click Edit.
- Under Inventory Placement Option, select Inventory Placement Service.
- Click Update.
- Select single location: During the shipment setup in Amazon's system, select single location if the option is available to you.
Warehouses often use software to track shipments with a specific destination. An order must have a one-to-one relationship with a shipment for the system to correctly associate them. Processing a single order with multiple labels/locations can be problematic due to the manual effort required. Warehouses operate on a commercial level, necessitating proper staff training to avoid costly mistakes without needing leadership involvement in every shipment.
If we can accommodate a split shipment, please be aware of the following:
- Minimum Fee: A non-negotiable fee of $25 per split will apply.
- Additional Fees: Any other applicable fees will be communicated to you and must be approved before proceeding with the split.
- What is considered a split: A split is defined as either multiple sets of shipping documents or multiple ship-to locations.
Once your shipment is split, the new shipment details are final. Any further changes will incur the same fee and are not covered under the initial request.
Please note that Palletfly cannot assume liability for any issues that arise directly from the splitting of your shipment.
